Let’s hear what the TGM Awards candidate have to tell us about his life and music career in an exclusive interview with Think Ghana Music.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself (Your life and music career beginning).
A: My real names are Raymond Nmam Ike-Woko, I am a Nigerian born rapper and singer, I actually started music at the age of 5 while I was still in the church choir and my parents encouraged me by buying musical toys for me to play and sing with. I came up with some childhood friends to form a gospel band and I gradually developed my God given talent through hard work and constant practice. Music came naturally to me because my mother sang almost everyday while I was around her and it stuck to me instantly.
Q: What;s your showbiz name?
Q: Can you tell us something about your education background?
A: I attended Paradise International Group of Schools from my kindergarten to primary level. I later attended Air Force College during my junior year but finally finished at County Grammar School at my senior year where I held the post of dining prefect. I am currently studying Information Technology at Accra Institute of Technology, Ghana where I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
Q: When year did you officially enter the music industry and what is your debut single or album?
A: I officially launched my music career in the year 2012 when I came to Accra, Ghana and I got my music name “Rayzorr” from a friend who made it from my birth name. I currently record weekly, I have three official singles and I also have other songs which I recorded for a mixtape. My debut single is “MUNLO SUAJU” which means “MOVING FORWARD” in English. Right now, I’m currently trying to shoot a musical video for my latest hit single “IFEOMA”.
Q: What’s your record label?
A: I am currently signed to my own record label BLADE EMPIRE RECORDS which I started together with some friends in the year 2012. We currently have three artistes who have songs on the internet and are gradually making their mark in the industry.
Q: Are you ready to drop any singles or albums?
A: Yes, sure. I currently have three official singles namely “Munlo Suaju”, “Wyld Party” and “Ifeoma”. I have a mixtape which is compiled with a lot of cover songs. I am working on new, fresh and exciting music which will groove and also trend worldwide so I can leave a legacy for future musicians when I’m gone… Surely, an album would be made available in the near future.
Q: What about any shows to buttress your album?
A: My first stage performance was at a school organized show to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day which held on the 1st of October, 2013. I was later invited on the 2nd of November, 2013 for a show which held at the famous Kahuna Night Club and I also had another gig at the launching of Jay Nii Beach Resort on the 9th of November, 2013. There are also many more which are in the works.
Q: Have you featured any top artiste on any of your singles before (If any, mention their names)?
A: No, I haven’t because I’m still new in the game and I have to make my name known before featuring top acts so I don’t have a career setback. I hope to feature the likes of Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, R2Bees, Wizkid, Samini, Davido, Burna Boy and many more someday.
