Despite constant repudiation of the industry’s growth by a group of players, some young talents are making indubitable strides.
Among them are two tough-to-beat Afrobeats newcomers, King Prinz, a South Africa-based Ghanaian rapper, and 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards ‘Unsung’ nominee, Deon Boakye.
The duo has teamed up on a brand new Afrobeats single titled “Bebiaa Awu”. The title is a Twi phrase which refers to ‘extreme enthusiasm or jollity’.
The title reflects the concept – no need to decode. And the target audience? Everyone!
Deon Boakye, who handled the chorus of the track with his soul soothing vocals, explained in an interview that “’Bebiaa Awu’ is one of the songs you should feel good listening to. It tells you to forget your worries, have fun and this message inspires everybody.”
On what makes this record unique from the bunch of songs dominating in the industry and if it would stand the test of time, he said: “Yeah, it can stand the test of time. Aside it being Afrobeats, the message it carries makes it stand out and everybody wants to be happy.”
To Deon, he believes that the song can compete with the current top songs with the right promotion strategy.
“Of course, it’s a good song and with the right promotion I know it will definitely be a breakthrough,” he opined.
On how the recording was like, King Prinz simply describes it as ‘fun’. Prinz, who is signed unto UK record label Slowe Music, also divulged that he decided to work with Deon because “he’s unique”.
Produced by WillisBeatz, the song is scheduled for release on Friday, November 3.
On what fans should expect? King Prinz says “Good music” and Deon Boakye says “Fans should expect a hit song this Friday, #BebiaaAwu, the new anthem.”
