Exclusive Interview with ECKZO 9 Talking Music, Dreams & Family!~!

Eckzo 9-“Blessings”

TGM-Who is Eckzo 9 and how did you get your beginning in the music industry?

Eckzo 9-My stage name ECKZO 9 is a name derived from my grand dad and great granddad’s names … ÉCKLOH ZOWONU meaning THE TORTOISE has lead all the creatures in a race.

TGM-Where do you come from?

Eckzo 9-I am an Anlo born, a town in the Keta District of The Volta Region of The Democratic Rep. of Ghana in the western part of Africa.

TGM-Tell me a little about you and your family?

Eckzo 9-M biological names are Emile Zowonu Etienne, I was born in Abidjan to  Mr. and Mrs. Zowonu Etienne.  I lost my Mum at a very tender young age. I am the only child of my parents.  I schooled here in Ghana, My parents are Ghanaian based and grew up in Abidjan.  After the death of my mum, my grandmum Paulina Akovi Yev-Uga took care of me till I grew up.

TGM-Who is your inspiration and how do they inspire you?

Eckzo 9-God and my Grandmother are my inspiration.  Talking about my grandmother, this woman was a disabled woman but she never saw herself as one.  She always did any and all hard work to make sure that our needs were met.  She had 3 children living with her, myself and 2 cousins who had also lost their parents. We had no place to go other than with our grandmother.  I miss my grandmother so much.  Sometimes, we would go and fetch water for people to get paid so that we could also buy what we needed.  She would take to a community bowl and fetch water while I carry it is as young as I was for her.  I vividly remember one day we had no money and she cook Banku with pepper without tomato, onion and fish, she broke broom sticks and roasted it on fire and later put them in the pepper to represent fish for us to eat and she ate it as well and told us that no matter how hungry we may be that we should never on earth touch anything that doesn’t belong to us.

TGM-Any tips for future musicians trying to make it in today’s music industry?

Eckzo 9-I will say that prayer is a master key to every locked dream and talent, besides that you must be focused, determined, submissive, sober and be able to listen to advice from your peers.  Training and rehearsal or a must at all times and last but not least be social.  Without all these things you can see heaven but you really can’t enter.

TGM-What genre of music do you consider your music?

Eckzo 9-I am a versatile musician I can relate and sing any genre.

TGM-What does this song “Blessings” mean to you and why did you write it?

Eckzo 9-This song “Blessings” means a lot to me because it’s about my life.  Things that I went through in life.  People will talk all sorts of negative things about you and they really don’t even know the real you.  Just because you greet them when you see them, they envy everything about you, that’s why I composed “Blessings.”

TGM-What can we look forward to in the near future from you?

Eckzo 9-I believe that bigger and better things will come for I have a lot of plans, painting Ghana and Africa with the brightest colored music for the rest of the world or continent to know the real Africa and Ghana.  Having an empire for the needy, orphans, widows and taking care of the mentally handicapped people of my country.

TGM-As a musician, how do you feel giving back to your community who support you is important?

Eckzo 9-The feeling is great, you know one thing, when you have something and someone asked you to give a portion of what you have and you actually give it to them with a cheerful heart you feel more than happy, you feel so blessed.  It’s an amazing feeling when people see you grown to become a public figure/celebrity in a particular environment and all of a sudden to their surprise you just appear to show them love by donating items that they are needing to them, you feel highly blessed.

TGM-Where do you see yourself in the music industry in the next 5 years?

Eckzo 9-In 5 years to come I see myself being amongst the Top 5 World’s best musician, winning for Africa.

TGM-Thank you for your time we wish you all the best in your quest for success…God bless you always!~!
