AFROBEATS JUMPOFF Vol. 1, is an explicit nature of mixtape from the studios of South Africa based Ghanaian DJ, James Opoku known in showbiz circles as DJ Champagne – Toast of the capital.
DJ Champagne accolades are numerous and include representing Ghana at the “Big Brother Africa Star Game” final party and the Grand Finale in South Africa 2012. Winner of the Radio & Television Personality Awards (R.T.P Awards) for Best Radio DJ Of The Year 2012. Nominated for several awards including Best International Ghanaian DJ 2016 at the Ghana DJ Awards 2016.
DJ Champagne for years was a DJ at the Accra based youth oriented radio station YFM as the DJ for their late afternoon drive show ‘Dryve of Your Lyfe’. His mixes and talent made him a very popular and respected DJ in Ghana.
He released a dancehall mixtape “FOAM PARTY RIDDIM” (GH VERSION) which included over 24 Ghanaian artists who have worked joints on the products respectively. The riddim mixtape project was the first of its kind to be ever done officially by any Ghanaian disc jockey and was endorsed by Dale Johnson (CEO of ARKETEK MUSIK) Jamaica/New York based originator of the riddim.
Currently in South Africa since January, 2015, DJ Champagne released his own riddim “MORE CHAMPAGNE RIDDIM” on May, 2015. The riddim mixtape had over 20 artists across the globe both local and international.
He has also DJ events/places in South Africa which include – Moloko Club in Pretoria, KONG In Rosebank, Cantare inside Monte Casino (Fourways), Lukhanji Summer Fest (Queenstown), L’Opulence – February Welcome Party (Sandton), Ghana’s 59 Independence day Soccer Fiesta (Sunnyside, Pretoria), 3 countries in one bashment (Braamfontein) Ghana Fest 2015 which had Okyeame Kwame on it (Pretoria), Ghana SA Awards 2015 (Sandton), just to mention but a few.
Champagne is also set to unveil his new show on LIGHT TV (South Africa) – a music show titled ‘RHYTHMS’.
The new mixtape – AFROBEATS JUMPOFF Vol. 1 is a blend of latest hits, award-winning songs and new generational of Afrobeats songs that has contributed a great deal of putting African music on the world stage.
AFROBEATS JUMPOFF Vol. 1 has over 30 songs from top musicians across Africa and its one hour, eighteen minutes and twenty three seconds of extended play.
